Here is another illustration from last year’s vegetable gardening. I don’t really know exactly what kind of effect coffee grounds have on slugs, but they don’t seem to like it. I have read that the grounds (post-coffee-making) are pretty much neutral pH so you don’t have to worry about disrupting the acidity of your soil. I have also seen slug fences created from baked egg shells and rose thorns (ouch!)
